JCC Basketball Player Isaiah Wartell Keen On Winning Friends and Games in Houston

Isaiah Wartell has been playing basketball, among other sports, for some time, but will be a first-time athlete at the JCC Maccabi Games in Houston. Here are his anticipatory thoughts.

Q: If you were to describe the JCC Maccabi Experience with one word, what word would it be?

A: Excitement

Q: What sport will you be participating in at the JCC Maccabi Experience and why?

A: I’m participating in basketball because I love the sport and this is a great opportunity to play.

Q: What do you do when you are not a JCC Maccabi athlete?

A: I play basketball, soccer, lacrosse, football, golf, and the drums.

Q: How many years have you participated in the JCC Maccabi Experience?

A: This will be my first.

Q: Why spend a week of your summer attending the JCC Maccabi Experience?

A: Because I have heard great things about the program and I’m excited to meet new friends and compete.

Q: What are you most looking forward to this summer in Houston?

A:  Being able to be with my friends, meet new once and compete.

Q:  Why do you love playing sports?

A:  Because I love to be competitive and to be with other people.

Q:  What is your best JCC Maccabi memory?

A:  I haven’t been to the games yet but I really enjoy practices.

Q:  How will you measure success for your team this summer?

A: Through the games we win and the people we meet.

Q: What has been your greatest success as an athlete?

A: Traveling with my basketball team to tournaments and winning.
